What Extract Pages from PDF does
Extract Pages from PDF copies the pages you choose from a PDF into a new, smaller PDF. It is the quickest way to send only the relevant part of a long document, such as one chapter of a book, one invoice from a monthly statement, or the signature page of a contract.
pdf-lib copies the selected pages without re-rendering them, so text stays selectable and quality does not change. Pages appear in the order you type them, and each page is included once. The new file is named with -extract, and the original file stays unchanged.

When to use Extract Pages from PDF

- Take one chapter out of a textbook or course reader PDF to read it on a phone or e-reader.
- Pull a single invoice or statement page out of a combined monthly PDF for an expense report.
- Create a short sample of a report or portfolio, such as the first three pages, to share with a potential client.
Settings explained
- Pages (empty = all)
- Type the pages to keep, separated by commas. The default is 1-2. 3, 7-9, 12- takes page 3, pages 7 to 9 and page 12 to the end, and -4 means pages 1 to 4.
- Add more files
- Add several PDFs to extract the same pages from each one, for example the first page of every report. Each file gives its own result, and Download all (ZIP) saves them together.
What is PDF?
PDF (Portable Document Format) is a document format introduced by Adobe in 1993. Files use the .pdf extension.
PDF was created by Adobe to show documents the same way on any device and printer. A PDF file describes pages with text, fonts, vector graphics and images at fixed positions. It became an open ISO standard in 2008, and there are special variants such as PDF/A for archiving and PDF/X for printing.
PDF is the right choice for documents that must look the same everywhere, such as contracts, invoices, forms, manuals, reports and files for printing. It also supports digital signatures, fillable forms, comments and password protection.
PDF is hard to edit, because text is stored as positioned pieces, not as flowing paragraphs. Converting a PDF to Word may change the layout. Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, not real text, unless OCR has been applied.
All major web browsers open PDF files directly. Windows, macOS, iOS and most Android phones include a PDF viewer, and Adobe Acrobat Reader and many free apps can view, annotate and fill PDF forms on all platforms.
Why use FansBond Extract Pages from PDF
Most online converters upload your files to their servers. FansBond Extract Pages from PDF does the work inside your browser instead, using WebAssembly and modern browser APIs. Your files stay on your device, which is safer for private photos, contracts and unreleased work, and it is often faster because nothing has to upload or download.
There are no queues, no watermarks and no account. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working even on a slow connection.
Tips for the best result
- The order you type is the order in the new PDF. For example, 5, 1-3 puts page 5 first, followed by pages 1, 2 and 3.
- A page listed twice is included only once. To repeat a page, extract it separately and combine the files with Merge PDF.
- To get several separate files from one PDF in a single step, use Split PDF with Custom ranges instead.
- Use an open range to copy everything from a page to the end: 7- takes page 7 and every page after it.
How Extract Pages from PDF works in your browser
The PDF is opened with pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library that runs in your browser. Pages are copied, rotated, resized or cropped at the PDF object level, so text stays text and vector graphics stay sharp.
Because the original page content is copied rather than re-rendered, there is no quality loss. The only exception is an option that explicitly turns pages into images. The new PDF is assembled in memory on your device and offered as a download.
Privacy and security
Most online converters upload your files to a server, process them there and keep a copy for some time. Extract Pages from PDF works differently: the code is downloaded to your browser once, and your files are read and written only on your device.
You can check this yourself: after the page has loaded, turn off your internet connection and the tool still works. This makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical records, private photos and unreleased work.
Frequently asked questions
Is Extract Pages from PDF free?
Yes. Extract Pages from PDF on FansBond is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your files are processed in your browser on your own device. They are never sent to FansBond or anyone else.
Do I need to install any software?
No. It works in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your device, the practical limit depends on your device's memory. Most phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, and computers handle much more.
Does extracting reduce the file size?
Usually yes, because only the selected pages and the fonts and images they use are copied. A page with large photos can still make a big file. If the extracted file is too large to send, run it through PDF Compressor.
Can I extract pages from a scanned PDF?
Yes. Scanned pages are copied like any other page, as images at their original resolution. The tool works with page numbers, so it does not need a text layer, and the pages lose no quality.
Can I extract pages from a protected PDF?
If the file is encrypted, including files that only restrict printing or editing, the tool asks you to remove the protection first. Use Unlock PDF with the password, then extract the pages from the unlocked copy.
