What Collage Maker does
A collage combines several photos into one image for social media posts, mood boards, event recaps or before-and-after comparisons. Instead of arranging pictures by hand in an editor, you choose a layout and the tool places them for you.
Each photo is scaled to cover its cell and centered, so the parts that do not fit the cell's shape are cropped. The cells are separated by spacing in the background color, and the finished collage is saved as one JPG or PNG image.
How to use Collage Maker
- Drop your images and put them in the order you want.
- Choose the size, timing or layout.
- Click Create.
- Download the finished file.
When to use Collage Maker
- Put four holiday photos into one square grid so they can be shared as a single social media post.
- Make a product image that shows one large main photo next to a column of smaller detail shots.
- Combine before-and-after photos side by side in a row for a renovation, haircut or fitness update.
- Create a mood board or event recap from a dozen photos to share in a chat or presentation.
Settings explained
- Layout
- Grid places photos in rows and columns, Row puts them side by side, Column stacks them, and Feature + grid shows the first photo large with the others in a column next to it.
- Columns
- Grid layout only. Sets how many photos go in each row, up to 10. The default of 0 chooses automatically, for example 2 columns for 4 photos and 3 columns for 9.
- Aspect ratio
- The shape of each cell, not of the whole collage: 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 16:9 or 9:16. The overall height follows from the number of rows. Pick the shape closest to most of your photos to crop less.
- Width
- The width of the finished collage in pixels, from 200 to 6000, with 2000 as the default. The height is calculated from the layout, the cell shape and the number of photos.
- Spacing
- The gap between photos and around the edges, from 0 to 80 pixels; the default is 12. The gap shows the Background color, which is white by default. Set it to 0 for photos that touch.
- Corner radius
- Rounds the corners of every photo, from 0 to 80 pixels; the default of 0 keeps square corners. Rounded corners look best with some spacing, so the background shows around them.

What is PNG?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is an image format introduced by W3C in 1996. It uses lossless compression and supports transparency. Files use the .png extension.
PNG was created in the mid-1990s as a free replacement for GIF, whose compression method was covered by patents at the time. It applies a filtering step and then compresses pixels with the DEFLATE algorithm, so every pixel is kept exactly. It supports full color, grayscale, palette images and a full alpha channel for smooth transparency.
PNG is the right choice for screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams, user interface graphics and any image with sharp edges, text or flat colors. It is also a safe format for images that need transparent backgrounds or will be edited again.
Because PNG is lossless, photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than the same photo saved as JPG or WebP. PNG has no lossy mode, and a standard PNG file cannot store animation.
PNG opens in every modern web browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and in practically all image viewers, image editors, office suites and design tools. It is one of the most widely supported image formats.
What is JPG?
JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is an image format introduced by JPEG in 1992. It uses lossy compression and has no transparency. Files use the .jpg or .jpeg extension.
JPG, also written JPEG, is named after the Joint Photographic Experts Group, which wrote the standard. It splits an image into small blocks, transforms each block with a discrete cosine transform and discards the fine detail that the eye notices least. A quality setting controls how much detail is removed and therefore the file size.
JPG is the standard choice for photographs and other images with smooth color gradients, such as camera pictures, product photos and images for email or social media. It gives small files with good visual quality at moderate settings.
JPG does not support transparency or animation. Each time a JPG is edited and saved again, it loses a little more quality. Text, line art and sharp edges can show visible blocks or halos at low quality settings.
JPG is supported everywhere: in all web browsers, on all desktop and mobile operating systems, and on cameras, phones and printers. All image editors and office programs open it. It is the most compatible format for sharing photos.
What is WEBP?
WEBP (WebP) is an image format introduced by Google in 2010. It supports both lossy and lossless compression, supports transparency and can store animation. Files use the .webp extension.
WebP was developed by Google to make images on the web smaller. Its lossy mode is based on the VP8 video codec, and it also has a separate lossless mode. Both modes can include an alpha channel for transparency. The format also supports animation, so it can replace JPG, PNG and GIF in many cases.
WebP is a good choice for images on websites and in apps, where smaller files load faster. It works for photos, graphics with transparency and short animations, often at a smaller size than JPG, PNG or GIF.
Some older software, image editors, print services and upload forms still do not accept WebP. Lossy WebP always reduces color resolution, which can blur fine colored detail. At very high quality settings, the size benefit over JPG can be small.
All current major browsers display WebP, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on recent versions of macOS and iOS. Windows, macOS, Android and most modern image editors open it, but some older desktop programs do not.
What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIF)) is an image format introduced by MPEG in 2015. It uses lossy compression and supports transparency. Files use the .heic or .heif extension.
HEIC is an image stored in the HEIF container and compressed with the HEVC (H.265) video codec. Apple made it the default photo format on iPhones starting with iOS 11. One file can hold several images, depth maps and other data, and it keeps quality similar to JPG at a noticeably smaller size.
HEIC is good for storing many photos on a phone, because it saves space while keeping good quality. It can also keep extra information in the same file, such as the depth data used for portrait effects.
Most websites and many Windows and Android apps cannot open HEIC files directly. The HEVC codec is covered by patents, which limits free support. When you share photos outside Apple devices, converting to JPG is often necessary.
HEIC opens natively on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Recent Windows versions can open it with the HEIF and HEVC extensions from the Microsoft Store, and many recent Android phones can read it. Most browsers other than Safari cannot display it.
Why use FansBond Collage Maker
Most online converters upload your files to their servers. FansBond Collage Maker does the work inside your browser instead, using WebAssembly and modern browser APIs. Your files stay on your device, which is safer for private photos, contracts and unreleased work, and it is often faster because nothing has to upload or download.
There are no queues, no watermarks and no account. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working even on a slow connection.
Tips for the best result
- Use the up and down arrows in the file list to change the order. In Feature + grid, the first photo becomes the large one.
- JPG, the default output format, gives a smaller file for photos and is saved at high quality. Choose PNG for screenshots and graphics with text.
- Each photo is cropped around its center to fit its cell, so keep the important subject near the middle of each photo.
- For a grid without empty cells, use a number of photos that fills every row, such as 4, 6 or 9.
How Collage Maker works in your browser
The collage is drawn on an HTML canvas in your browser. Each photo is decoded on your device, scaled to fit its cell with high-quality resampling, and placed on the background with the spacing you chose.
When you download, the canvas is encoded as JPG or PNG. Nothing is rendered on a server, so the preview you see is exactly the file you get.
Privacy and security
Most online converters upload your files to a server, process them there and keep a copy for some time. Collage Maker works differently: the code is downloaded to your browser once, and your files are read and written only on your device.
You can check this yourself: after the page has loaded, turn off your internet connection and the tool still works. This makes it safe for contracts, IDs, medical records, private photos and unreleased work.
Frequently asked questions
Is Collage Maker free?
Yes. Collage Maker on FansBond is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Your files are processed in your browser on your own device. They are never sent to FansBond or anyone else.
Do I need to install any software?
No. It works in any modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Because the work happens on your device, the practical limit depends on your device's memory. Most phones handle files of a few hundred megabytes, and computers handle much more.
How many photos can I use?
There is no fixed limit, but all photos share the same collage width. With many photos, each cell gets small, and the Row layout becomes a thin strip. Up to about 12 to 16 photos usually looks best in a grid.
Why are parts of my photos cut off?
Each photo is scaled to cover its whole cell and then centered. When the photo's shape differs from the cell's aspect ratio, the extra edges are cropped. Choose a cell shape closer to your photos, such as 3:4 for portrait phone photos, to keep more of each picture.
What size and quality is the finished collage?
The collage is as wide as the Width setting, 2000 pixels by default, and its height depends on the layout. JPG files are saved at quality 92, which keeps photos sharp, and PNG is lossless. Metadata from the original photos is not included.
