What Konvertor PDF does

Konvertor PDF converts the content of a document, not a picture of its pages. It reads the text and structure of the file: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, links and images from DOCX, HTML, Markdown and EPUB files, and lines of text from PDF files. It then writes a new file from that structure.

PDF output is laid out again on standard pages with embedded DejaVu fonts, DOCX output uses real Word headings and lists, and HTML output is one page with its images embedded. The text is easy to reuse, but the original design, fonts and exact positions are not copied.

Word output

Shown when converting a PDF to DOCX. Editable text rebuilds paragraphs, headings and lists you can change. Exact layout (page images) puts a picture of each page into the Word file, which looks right but cannot be edited.

Page size

Shown when saving as PDF. Choose A4, Letter, Legal or A5. A4 is standard in most countries, and Letter is standard in the United States and Canada. The text is reflowed to fit the page.

Orientation

Shown when saving as PDF. Portrait suits normal text. Landscape gives wider lines and more room for tables with many columns, which are otherwise squeezed to the page width.

Resolution

Shown when saving page images as JPG or PNG. 150 DPI suits screens and slides, 300 DPI suits printing and zooming into small text, and 72 DPI gives small preview images.

Document title (optional)

Sets the title stored inside the new file, which readers and browsers show in the window or tab. Leave it empty to use the title found in the original file, or else the file name.

The layout can change when a DOCX file is opened in a different program, in another version of Word or on a computer without the same fonts. For final documents that must look identical everywhere, PDF is a better choice.

Microsoft Word on Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and the web opens DOCX files, as do Google Docs, LibreOffice, Apple Pages and WPS Office. Web browsers cannot display DOCX files directly without an online service.

An HTML file often depends on separate images, style sheets and scripts, which are lost if only the single file is copied. Pages can look different in different browsers or email clients. HTML is not designed for fixed print layout.

• For a PDF identical to the Word layout, use Print to PDF in Word or Google Docs. This tool rebuilds the layout with its own fonts and spacing.
• Headings come through best when the Word file uses real heading styles, such as Heading 1 and Heading 2, rather than large bold text.
• Images linked from the internet in HTML files are not downloaded. Only images stored inside the file are placed in PDF, DOCX and EPUB output.
• PDF output supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic text. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters, and right-to-left scripts such as Arabic or Hebrew, may not display correctly.
