SVG render width

Sets the width in pixels used to draw an SVG file, up to 8000. The height follows the aspect ratio. Leave 0 to use the size defined in the file; raise it when you need a larger, sharper image.

Quality

Shown for JPG, WEBP and AVIF output. It ranges from 10 to 100 with a default of 90. Lower values make smaller files but can blur thin lines and small text.

Background color

Shown for JPG output, which cannot store transparency. Transparent parts of the image are filled with this color, white by default. Match it to the page or document where the image will appear.

Colors

Shown for SVG output. Sets how many colors a raster image is reduced to before tracing, from 2 to 64, with 16 as the default. Use fewer colors for logos and more for detailed artwork.

SVG is the best choice for logos, icons, illustrations, charts, maps and diagrams on websites and in apps. It stays sharp on any screen, is often very small for simple graphics, and can be edited as text.

SVG is not suitable for photographs. Complex drawings can produce large, slow files. Because SVG can contain scripts and links, many platforms block SVG uploads for security reasons. Text may look different if fonts are not converted to paths.

All modern web browsers display SVG. Vector editors such as Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape edit it, and many system file viewers can preview it. Many social networks, photo apps and office programs do not accept SVG.

PNG is the right choice for screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams, user interface graphics and any image with sharp edges, text or flat colors. It is also a safe format for images that need transparent backgrounds or will be edited again.

Because PNG is lossless, photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than the same photo saved as JPG or WebP. PNG has no lossy mode, and a standard PNG file cannot store animation.

PNG opens in every modern web browser, on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and in practically all image viewers, image editors, office suites and design tools. It is one of the most widely supported image formats.

Some older software, image editors, print services and upload forms still do not accept WebP. Lossy WebP always reduces color resolution, which can blur fine colored detail. At very high quality settings, the size benefit over JPG can be small.

All current major browsers display WebP, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on recent versions of macOS and iOS. Windows, macOS, Android and most modern image editors open it, but some older desktop programs do not.

Tips for the best result

• SVG files are drawn the way your browser displays images. Fonts or pictures that the SVG only links to are not loaded, so convert text to outlines first.
• Set SVG render width to at least twice the display size if the image will be shown on high-resolution phone or laptop screens.
• Choose PNG rather than JPG for logos and icons. PNG keeps transparent backgrounds and sharp edges without compression marks.
• Tracing works best on flat graphics with a few solid colors. For photos, keep the original raster file instead of converting it to SVG.
